Julian Schnabel (*1951)
Untitled (Montauk Studio), USA, New York, 2004
A spectacular self-portrait by Julian Schnabel, staged by the world-renowned painter and film director in his studio in Montauk, on the eastern tip of Long Island. Since 2002, he has been photographing with a rare and massive 20 x 24 Polaroid camera from the seventies, creating breathtaking, large-format, object-like unique pictures with it. Every shot is an event, or as Schnabel himself puts it: »Every Polaroid breaks the norm«.
