Pongracz received her professional education at the Martha Hoepfner School of Photography and at the Bavarian State School of Photography in Munich. Her first participation in exhibitions and the award of the German Youth Photography Prize (»Deutscher Jugendfotopreis«) were followed by publications in daily newspapers. These early works illustrate articles on various topics in the feuilletons, such as literature, theatre or social politics.
This image belongs to a group of editorial photographs, ranging between the genres portrait, fashion and lifestyle. It conveys a lightheartedness in which the spirit of the years before the 1968 youth revolts can be read: a new, pioneering era was in the air.
