In this virtuosic example of Huene’s skill with lighting, the lithe form of Austrian dancer Erna Carise is repeated and enlarged in silhouette. Carise was born Erni Kaiser in 1906 in Vienna and she found fame in the 1920s starring with Josephine Baker in the Folies Bergère show Un Vent de Folies.
