The popular French movie star Annabella appeared in 46 films between 1927 and 1952. In Huene’s portrait she reclines in a hammock and holds roses to her chest, brushing one against her lips as she gazes seductively into the camera. The portrait was published in Paris Vogue in 1933 alongside a text by Jean Cocteau.
