In the series »Cakes and Balls« Parr humorously explores the clichés and traditions of the Austrian capital. The work was commissioned on the occasion of Parr's retrospective at Kunst Haus Wien in 2016 and exhibited there for the first time.
Central elements of the Viennese coffee house culture are not only the variety of coffee preparations but also the specific small dishes. Classic: Frankfurter sausages with horseradish and two kinds of mustard, served with a hand roll. The additional pickled gherkin seems to be a specialty of Café Landtmann.
