Cora Pongracz (1943 – 2003)
Ulla playing with cloth, Munich, ca. 1965
From the edition »Austrian Avant-Garde of the 1970s«
Limited edition of 5
Shortly after Pongracz had completed her professional education at »Fotoschule Martha Hoepfner« and at »Bayerische Staatslehranstalt für Photographie« in Munich, she was able to publish her images in notable newspapers. Her most successful early work, also award-winning (»Deutscher Jugendfotopreis«), shows a friend of her playing with a fringed scarf.
As the preserved negatives proof, there were many throws necessary, until Pongracz took this felicitous picture. It conveys an effortless easiness and a lighthearted joy of life, which suggest the spirit of the era, a few years before the revolutionary movements of the '68 spread among the youth.
