Cora Pongracz (1943 – 2003)
Peter Weibel, Vienna, 1975
From the edition »Austrian Avant-Garde of the 1970s«
Limited edition of 5
Peter Weibel presents himself in a staging that is as subtle as it is significant: in front of the button strip of his diagonally streaked shirt, he vertically holds a ruler, thus creating a reference to the physical phenomenon of light refraction that is reminiscent of works in his conceptual art – here as there, boundaries and shifts between different medial levels of representation irritate an innocent perception of reality.
The portraits was shot by Cora Pongracz for the catalogue of Kunst aus Sprache (Art from Language), an exhibition at Vienna's Museum of 20th Century Art in 1975.
