At Bytom in the Upper Silesia coal area girls are repairing the rail-road tracks at the former Hohenzollern coal mine. In the postwar era, Austrian photojournalist and Magnum-full-member since 1951, Erich Lessing, was one of the few photographers covering events in the countries of the so-called Eastern Bloc.
