Jean-Francois Bauret (1932 – 2014)
Untitled (Mannequin), 1977
Inspired by Man Ray, Bauret had been involved in photography since the 1950s and opened his own studio in Paris around 1960, where he created portraits of numerous personalities from the worlds of art, film, and literature, as well as scandalous nude and advertising photographs. He became famous not only for his extraordinary arrangements and visual ideas, but also for his masterful use of lighting, which was compared to Rembrandt's chiaroscuro.
