Arthur Miller on the set of »The Misfits«, USA, Nevada, 1960
The screenplay for »The Misfits« was a gift from playwright Arthur Miller to his wife Marilyn Monroe to finally give her a challenging role. The filming of this movie, directed by John Huston, was documented by nine Magnum photographers who followed both the dramas of the movie plot as well as those behind the scenes. At the time of filming, Miller and Monroe's marriage was on the verge of divorce and the author met Magnum photographer Inge Morath on set, who was to become his next wife.
