Takeuchi Toshinobu (1943 – 2022)
Late autumn mood, Japan, ca. 2000
As one of Japan's most important landscape photographers, Toshinobu documented the various areas of his homeland in as untouched a state as possible, so to speak as it were before the influence of mankind. In addition to the terrains, the flora and the forces of nature in all their pictorial intensity, the change of the seasons – particularly pronounced in Japan – was also a vital part of his work.
For many areas, autumn is the most colorful time of the year. There are so many climatic zones in the island state of Japan that the meteorologists produce forecast maps that provide information on when and where autumn leaves will be most beautiful.
