The photographs of the important landscape painter Alfons Walde slumbered unnoticed in a box for decades until they were shown for the first time at the Fotomuseum WestLicht in December 2014. Walde also reveals himself to be a master of photography. In addition to a clear focus on the female nude, his role as a pioneer of colour photography is also noteworthy. Walde used his Leica with the newly invented colour film and produced slides that are fascinating in their painterly appearance. The photographs also served the artist as inspiration and models for his paintings.
