The Italian Elsa Schiaparelli was known as the most inventive and surprising designer of her generation, and her work was heavily influenced by surrealism, including the art of her friends Salvador Dalí and Jean Cocteau. Huene photographed many of her creations, such as this backless silver lamé gown.
