André Kertész (1894 – 1985)
Hazy Day, Hungary, Budapest, 19 November 1920
André Kertész created his early Hungarian work during his military service in the First World War and the years that followed, before moving to Paris and later to New York. In his homeland, he devoted himself above all to the meagre everyday life, its modest joys and misadventures. He also captured moments of poetic power with a sure hand and demonstrated his talent for coherent pictorial composition early on.
