Max Piva (*1984)
NAZARE LIGHTHOUSE PERSPECTIVE II, 2020
From the series »Ode to the Sea«
Limited edition of one unique print + 1 AP
The series »Ode to the Sea« by Max Piva engages with the ocean in a very personal and poetic way. He successfully captures the overwhelming power of the waves and the audience can sense the respect that Piva holds for the ocean and nature. The long-exposure photographs show dynamics and energy, but they also express calm and a deep sense of humility towards the sea. For Piva, who has been working with the medium of photography for a long time, the passive aspects of the process were particularly new and interesting. Thus, the photo is created in front of the lens without any further interaction. The artist waits and allows time and nature to play the active part. The picture then shows the memory of the phenomenon - out of focus and precisely because of this very emotional and present.
