Stanislao Farri (*1924)
Cantiere No. 6, Italy, ca. 1965
Stanislao Farri's image combines two opposing photographic approaches of the Italian post-war period: the documentation of social reality and an artistic image design in the sense of modernism. A painter on his ladder is shown within a puristic scene of a building, effectively created by means of format, light and shadow. The picture was exhibited under the title »Geometria di Lavoro« (Geometry of Work).
Active above all in Reggio Emilia, Farri became known as an architectural and industrial photographer, as well as for his numerous photo books on the culture of his region. He also worked experimentally and is appreciated for the quality of his prints.
