Nobuyoshi Araki (* 1940 in Tokyo) is one of the most radical and influential photographers of our time. In his work, which is extraordinarily productive and innovative, he is - also beyond photography - one of the most important figures in the current art landscape. With his photographs, Araki developed a unique visual handwriting, a representation of human passions that extends beyond Japanese culture, sometimes poetically, sometimes provocatively. For his characteristic gaze, he coined the concept of the photo-ego, by which he understood the captivating alternation of fiction, truth and desire.

The series Love by Leica (2006), comprising 66 photographs, is an atmospherically dense collection of black and white portraits of women and nudes, for which Araki worked with an analog Leica M7. His controversial acts and intimate studies of the female body, in which influences of the erotic iconography of the Edo period (peace and prosperity in Japan, 1603-1868) and the glossy aesthetics of the advertising and media world can be seen, made him internationally famous and famous Part of a wide canon of motifs with which the artist describes his world.
