Japanese Landscape Photographs
Takeuchi Toshinobu was one of Japan's most important landscape photographers. From 30 September to 4 November 2023, Galerie OstLicht is dedicating a remarkable sales show to him - with hand-signed works and specially hung scroll paintings.
Takeuchi Toshinobu was considered a master of his craft and was particularly known for the way he captured light, colours and scenery in poetic photographs. With a keen sense of detail and a deep connection to nature, he succeeded in creating breathtaking landscape images that captured the beauty and tranquillity of the natural environment. As one of Japan's most important photographers, Toshinobu documented various areas of his homeland in as pristine a state as possible, as it were before the imprint of man. In addition to the terrains, the flora and the forces of nature in all their pictorial intensity, the change of the seasons - particularly evident in Japan - was also at the centre of his work.
"Takeuchi Toshinobu's works go beyond mere photography. They are visual poems that take viewers on a journey through the beauty and mystical aura of the Japanese landscape," says Peter Coeln, founder of Galerie OstLicht.
The selection on display consists largely of Cibachrome prints signed by the photographer and inscribed in Japanese. Prints are also presented in a special Japanese style.
The prices include an elaborate framing produced in Japan and 13 % VAT.
