The reissued publication „SchauLust“ is the first book dedicated entirely to Alfons Walde’s photographic work, presented in 130 pictures from the 1920s to the 1940s. The book centres on the female nude study, captured by Walde in numerous variations, classic poses alternate with more playful and frisky scenes. The artist turns out to be a passionate voyeur whose photography is intrigued by the interchange of glances and the interplay of looking and posing.

For decades the photographs by painter Alfons Walde (1891–1958) were hidden in crates in the artist’s estate.
In December 2014 they were shown for the first time at WestLicht Museum.
The world-famous landscape painter Walde turns out to be an equally masterful photographer – with a focus on the nude. His staged pictures range from classical poses from the tradition of art history to erotic and partly pornographic scenes.
All of these motifs are available in two different formats:
